Palliative Care Australia is seeking to appoint two Independent Directors to its Board. The two incumbent Independent Directors reach the end of their respective tenures soon and we therefore offer this exciting opportunity.
Palliative Care Australia (PCA) is the national peak body for palliative care, representing and supporting people, services and organisations committed to quality palliative care for all Australians. PCA plays a critical leadership role in policy development, advocacy, education and sector collaboration to improve end-of-life care outcomes across the nation.
These appointments present an opportunity for experienced and values-driven leaders to contribute to a highly respected national organisation operating at the intersection of health, governance, advocacy and community impact.
About the Roles
The Board is seeking candidates who bring strong contemporary governance capability together with strategic insight and sound judgement. In particular, the Board is interested in individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Significant experience at Board or executive leadership level within complex stakeholder environments.
- Strong financial acumen and financial governance experience, and/or formal financial qualifications.
- Legal, corporate, strategic risk or organisational governance leadership, with exposure to complex organisational or regulatory environments.
- Philanthropy and business leadership, including strategic oversight and capability building.
Formal governance qualifications (e.g. AICD or equivalent) are highly desirable.
About You
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- A commitment to good governance and ethical leadership;
- The ability to think strategically and contribute constructively at Board level;
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capability;
- Independence of thought, sound judgement and collaborative leadership;
- Alignment with PCA’s mission, values and national advocacy role;
- Familiarity with the not-for-profit sector is desirable;
- An understanding of the health, aged care or community sectors would be viewed favourably, though is not essential.
Appointment Details
Appointments will be made in accordance with PCA’s Constitution and governance framework. Directors are expected to actively contribute to Board meetings, committee work and strategic oversight responsibilities.
