The BelRose Group has been exclusively engaged by Yilli Rreung Housing Aboriginal Corporation to recruit a Housing Coordinator. This is a permanent full time opportunity supporting housing services across Darwin and the broader Top End.

The organisation supports people who face barriers in the mainstream housing market and works with communities, government and service partners to deliver practical housing outcomes. Yilli has continued to expand its services in response to homelessness, housing pressure and community need across the Top End.

Role overview

Reporting to the Executive Manager Housing and Community, the Housing Coordinator leads and supports Housing Officers to deliver consistent, compliant and tenant focused housing services. The role oversees tenancy management, waiting lists, rent collection, inspections, tenant communication, records and reporting across social housing, affordable housing and town camp properties.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, support and monitor Housing Officers across day to day property management activity.

• Ensure tenancy practices align with the NT Residential Tenancies Act, NRSCH requirements, policies and procedures.

• Manage housing applications, waiting lists, tenancy agreements, inspections, rental arrears and breach processes.

• Maintain accurate tenancy files, property records, reports and housing management system information.

• Work with tenants, community leaders and service partners to resolve issues and support sustainable tenancies.

• Liaise with maintenance teams to report repairs and support the delivery of municipal and property services.

• Prepare reports for the Executive Manager Housing and Community and relevant funding bodies.

Essential criteria

• Experience working with Aboriginal people, including knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues and cultural protocols.

• Ability to work with integrity, accountability and respect when supporting clients, colleagues and community members.

• Diploma of Property Services, Agency Management, or a similar relevant qualification.

• Strong people management skills, including the ability to support, guide and develop staff.

• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and follow policies and procedures.

• Experience completing property assessments and inspections.

• Sound knowledge of the NT Residential Tenancies Act.

• Strong initiative, flexibility, discretion and attention to detail.

• High level communication, negotiation, presentation and conflict resolution skills, including confidence managing challenging client interactions.

• Ability to educate and support tenants to understand and maintain their tenancy obligations.

• Current driver licence.

• Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office and CHINTARO or another housing management system.

• Current or willing to obtain a Police Clearance and OCHRE Card.

• Current or able to obtain REINT corporate membership.

Desirable criteria

• Experience responding to the cultural and specific needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

• Experience delivering quality housing, human services or customer focused services to people with diverse needs.

• Knowledge of Indigenous community housing management and the government and non-government agencies involved in housing service delivery.

• Experience preparing reports and maintaining accurate records in databases.

• Experience undertaking investigations and preparing reports with clear recommendations.

• Experience in office administration and customer service.

• Familiarity with National Regulatory System for Community Housing reporting requirements
