As our new Applications Engineer, you will play an important role in supporting Capricorn’s business applications and helping to keep core systems stable, reliable, and performing effectively. You will provide Level 2 support across incidents, service requests, and problem investigations, with a particular focus on supporting Microsoft applications and related business platforms in line with ITIL v4 service practices.

In this role, you will troubleshoot application issues, support users and stakeholders, document solutions, and contribute to continuous improvement across the application support environment. You will work closely with internal teams, vendors, and senior technical contributors to resolve issues efficiently, improve knowledge sharing, and deliver a consistent, high-quality support experience.

Key Skills

  • Experience supporting enterprise business applications, including Microsoft applications and related platforms
  • Working knowledge of systems such as CRM, ERP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar business applications
  • Ability to investigate, triage, and resolve application incidents and service requests in a structured way
  • Experience using service management and knowledge tools such as Jira and Confluence; exposure to Atlassian products would be highly regarded
  • Basic to intermediate SQL or data analysis skills to support troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Strong documentation skills with the ability to capture support processes, known issues, and resolutions clearly
  • Strong communication and stakeholder support skills with a collaborative, customer-focused mindset
  • A proactive approach to learning, problem-solving, and continuous improvement

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in application support, systems administration, or business systems support roles
  • Experience supporting operational application environments, incident management, and service delivery activities
  • Exposure to Microsoft application support in a business environment is essential
  • Experience working with vendors or external service providers will be well regarded
  • Working knowledge of ITIL v4 fundamentals or service management best practices is desirable

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Relevant Microsoft or business application certifications would be advantageous
  • Exposure to Atlassian products, including Jira and Confluence, would be beneficial
