Black Chambers is accepting applications for a Casual Junior Clerk to provide administrative and operational support across chambers.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the day-to-day functioning of a busy barristers’ chambers, supporting barristers across a broad range of administrative, operational, and coordination tasks.
The position is well suited to law students or early-career candidates seeking practical exposure within a professional chambers environment. Shifts are offered on a casual, ongoing basis in line with chambers' requirements and candidate availability.
Successful candidates will be professional, reliable, and detail-oriented, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where discretion and confidentiality are essential.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Front-of-house reception, including greeting clients and managing enquiries
- Mail, couriers, briefs, and document handling
- Printing, scanning, filing, and document preparation
- Administrative and operational support to barristers
- Conference room bookings and AVL/video conferencing assistance
- General chambers upkeep (stationery, kitchen, shared spaces)
- Liaising with solicitors, court staff, and building management
- External errands, including NSW Bar Library runs
- Confidentiality and other duties as directed

- Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive with a willingness to assist across varied tasks
- Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality
