The Senior Digital Advisor – Strategy plays a key role in developing and delivering Victorian Labor’s digital communications strategy across organic channels.

Working closely with the Director of Digital and Communications and senior officials, the Senior Digital Advisor will lead the ideation and creation of high-impact digital content that communicates Labor’s message, mobilises supporters and engages voters across Victoria.

Supported by the wider team, the role combines strategic planning with creative production, ensuring content aligns with broader campaign objectives and reaches audiences where they are most active online.

The Senior Digital Advisor will oversee the development of compelling video, graphic and written content across Victorian Labor’s owned platforms, while supporting candidates and campaign teams to strengthen their digital presence.

As a senior member of the Digital and Communications Team, the role requires a highly creative and politically astute digital communicator with a strong understanding of social media, campaign messaging and online audience behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of digital content strategies aligned with Victorian Labor's communications and campaign objectives.
  • Translate policy priorities and campaign messaging into engaging digital storytelling across organic channels.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of high-quality video, graphic and written content across platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and YouTube.
  • Ensure content is tailored to platform-specific audiences, formats and trends while maintaining consistent branding and messaging standards.
  • Play a key role in the digital execution of election campaigns, including supporter engagement, message amplification and rapid-response communications.
  • Coordinate digital content workflows during campaign periods to ensure timely and effective delivery.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and support to content creators, working collaboratively to execute digital strategy and create compelling digital content.

Please note, this role requires availability outside standard hours, including evenings and weekends during campaign periods.

Our ideal candidate will

  • Have at least 5 years’ experience in digital communications, content strategy, campaigning or digital media in a political, advocacy, union, media or comparable fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate experience developing and delivering digital strategies that align with broader communications or campaign objectives.
  • Have advanced skills in video production, editing, digital storytelling and content development.
  • Be proficient in creative production tools, including Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Have a strong understanding of social media platforms, audience engagement, content trends and platform dynamics.
  • Have experience using analytics and audience insights to inform strategy and improve digital performance.
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills and experience working collaboratively across teams.
  • Be highly organised and capable of managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Share a commitment to the values of the Australian Labor Party.

Experience working on election campaigns or within fast-paced political campaign environments will be highly regarded.
