Primary objective

Provide coordinated education programs, sound clinical and education advice, and may provide direct clinical care for complex

client presentations within the specialty area.

Context statement

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a fast-paced, dynamic environment with 18 beds dedicated to the care of critically ill adults and

children. Our diverse patient population includes those with severe sepsis, trauma, neurosurgical conditions, tropical and infectious

diseases, as well as a variety of complex surgical cases.

The ICU Education Service is committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Using adult learning

principles, we actively engage, support, and educate ICU staff to enhance their clinical expertise and confidence.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide specialist education advice and support professional development activities within a defined area of practice.

2. Provide direct support, instruction, and feedback, including mentoring students, graduates, and less experienced staff, across

the multidisciplinary team.

4. Follows defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken

in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.

2. Demonstrated highly developed clinical knowledge, skills, and experience in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery.

3. Demonstrated education/training or experience in the development and/or delivery of education theory and practice.

4. Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education and professional development for the

specialist practice area.

5. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to maximise productive working relationships with internal and external

stakeholders and facilitate a positive learning environment.

6. Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that

influence health care provision for individuals and groups.

Desirable

1. Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.

Ongoing appointment is subject to attainment of Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.

The preferred or recommended applicant will be required to hold a current working with children clearance notice and undergo a

criminal history check. A criminal history will not exclude an applicant from this position unless it is relevant to the position. This

role carries specific immunisation requirements. To be eligible for appointment you will be required to meet the immunisation
