  • Lead a team of security and safety staff and oversee the efficient, accurate and effective delivery of security screening administration

  • VPS5 salary: $116,413 to $140,849 plus superannuation

The Recruitment Services branch within People, Safety and Culture provides expert advice and support to the department on all recruitment related matters, including attraction, selection, redeployment and other recruitment and retention practices.

About the Role

The Assistant Manager, Pre-employment Security Screening is responsible for leadership, direction, to provide authoritative advice, administrative and customer service support to hiring managers, candidates and other stakeholders on a wide range of pre-employment screening related matters.

Some of your other duties will include:

  • Leading and motivating the Security & Safety Team to deliver accurate and efficient preemployment screening processes in a high output environment.
  • Coordinating and supporting the operation of the Declaration of Misconduct Consideration Panel, ensuring independence from hiring panels and adherence to policy.
  • Assisting in the review of misconduct declarations arising from pre-employment screening checks.
  • Ensuring the department's legislative, industrial environment and policy position as it relates to Safety and Security processes is at the forefront of delivery and advice.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience leading an administrative support or customer service team, ideally within a large or complex organisation, and in working with sensitive and confidential information.
  • The ability to work in a time sensitive, fast-paced and dynamic environment with high volume processing activity.
  • Expert subject matter knowledge in probity checks and or pre-employment screening and experience in coordinating pre employment screening review, assessments and approvals.
  • Ability to prepare regular and ad-hoc qualitative and quantitative reports on team and departmental activity to inform strategy.
