About The Role

We are looking for a Trading Originator to join our Gas Origination & Trading team. This is a front-office role with P&L accountability, working within a collaborative and fast-moving trading environment. The role has a strong emphasis on short to medium-term trading and origination activities, with close interaction across the broader energy markets.

You will contribute to identifying and delivering opportunities across the Australian gas sector, supporting the optimisation of a portfolio of gas assets, derivatives, and supply positions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify and support new opportunities across gas and emerging renewable gas markets, contributing to a pipeline of trading and origination activities
  • Monitor and interpret market developments, including pricing trends and competitor activity, to inform decision-making
  • Assist in structuring and pricing transactions, developing practical and commercially sound solutions while considering risk
  • Support the negotiation and execution of transactions, ensuring alignment with regulatory and internal requirements
  • Build and maintain relationships with external counterparties and internal teams across trading, risk, legal, and finance
  • Contribute to portfolio performance, supporting trading outcomes and ongoing optimisation activities

This role offers exposure to a dynamic environment, with a balance of trading and origination responsibilities and a pace aligned to active market participation.

About You

You are a thoughtful and commercially aware professional with experience in energy trading, origination, or structuring, ideally within the Australian gas market or broader energy sector.

You bring:

  • Experience working in energy markets, with an understanding of trading or origination activities and market dynamics
  • A commercial mindset, with the ability to assess opportunities and consider risk in decision-making
  • An interest in market analysis and data, using insights to support trading and origination activities
  • The ability to work effectively in a collaborative and evolving environment
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a focus on working constructively with a range of stakeholders
  • Familiarity with tools and systems such as Excel, SQL, or ETRM platforms (or similar)

You are motivated to learn, open to new ideas, and interested in contributing to the evolving energy landscape.
