Senior Project Manager

Our client is a well-established and growing specialist ground engineering contractor operating in Sydney, seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of major infrastructure and commercial construction projects.

This business has built a strong reputation for delivering technically complex projects safely, efficiently, and collaboratively across Australia and specialising in piling, retention systems, deep foundations, and associated civil works for Tier 1 builders, developers, and infrastructure clients.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager / Operations Director, the Senior Project Manager will oversee multiple projects from tender handover through to completion, ensuring delivery across safety, programme, commercial, and quality objectives.

This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical capability, commercial acumen, and proven experience managing large-scale geotechnical or foundation packages in live construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of specialist piling, shoring, jet grouting, anchoring and ground improvement projects
• Manage project teams including Engineers, Site Managers, Supervisors, and subcontractors
• Oversee project planning, procurement, budgets, forecasting, and reporting
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
• Drive client relationships and maintain strong stakeholder communication
• Review and manage contracts, variations, claims, and commercial risks
• Coordinate construction methodologies, sequencing, and resource allocation
• Mentor and develop junior engineering and project delivery staff
• Work closely with estimating and pre-contract teams during tender and planning stages
• Ensure compliance with all quality, environmental, and safety standards

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
• Minimum 8-10 years' experience in piling, geotechnical, ground engineering, or heavy civil construction
• Demonstrated experience managing complex foundation or shoring packages
• Strong understanding of bored ground improvement, specialist piling, shoring, and geotechnical construction techniques
• Proven commercial and contractual management experience
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management capability
• Excellent planning, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

Preferred Experience

• Project experience working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors
• Background delivering infrastructure, rail, marine, bridge, or high-rise construction projects
• Familiarity with Australian construction standards and delivery models
• Exposure to design-and-construct project environments
