Details: The Housing Asset Assistance Program (HAAP) is responsible for managing a portfolio of public housing assets contracted to Community Service providers. The program is innovative, effective and responsive to the needs of its clients and assists members of our community who are subject to housing stress and social and financial disadvantage and in so doing help foster a safe, strong and cohesive community.
The Assistant Director will be responsible for managing a small, highly dedicated team, in developing, monitoring and reporting on funded contracts and programs, and providing operational support and advice on social housing and the specialist homelessness sector.

Eligibility/Other Requirements
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to: Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra.
Highly desirable:
- As this role is likely to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and young people, cultural awareness, the capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is highly desirable.
- Experience in the management of government contracts.
- Experience in preparing ministerial briefs and related correspondence.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of 12 months from 01 July 2026 up until 30 June 2027. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
