Details: Richardson Primary School is a small, inclusive community school with a strong early years focus and a responsive approach to wellbeing and engagement. The school hosts four preschool classes, two mainstream programs and two Koori Preschool programs, each deeply valued by the school and community. The Koori Preschools play an essential cultural, relational, and educational role, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families through culturally safe, strengths-based programs.

The School Leader C works as part of a collaborative leadership team supporting consistent practice, school-wide improvement, and the delivery of high-quality early childhood education across all four preschool groups.

The School Leader C has a dual responsibility of leading the preschool programs and contributing to whole-school leadership. Central to this role is the leadership, supervision, and teaching support across the preschool classes.

The role includes:

  • Strategic oversight of curriculum, pedagogy, compliance, and family engagement.
  • Ensuring that the Koori Preschool programs are culturally safe, relational, and identity-affirming, and operated in genuine partnership with families and community.
  • Contributing to whole-school improvement, early years initiatives, and staff capability development.

The successful applicant will bring expertise in early childhood pedagogy, strong relational leadership, cultural responsiveness, and the capacity to lead diverse teams across multiple early learning settings.

Eligibility /Other Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Early Childhood Education qualification.
  • A current full teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) (or eligibility for teacher registration with the ACT TQI) and a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.   • Knowledge of ACT Education Directorate frameworks, early years priorities, and policy requirements.
