About The Role

The Briefing Officer works as part of a small team to coordinate the provision of advice and correspondence responses for the Minister for Education, Training and Skills, and the Chief Executive.

The position demands high levels of confidentiality and discretion and is subject to periods of high intensity workload, with rapidly changing priorities, where meeting deadlines is essential.

The Briefing Officer is responsible to the Manager, OCE Operations, however reports to the Senior Briefing Officer on a day-to-day basis and works closely with all levels of the public and private sector, senior departmental officers and Ministerial offices on behalf of the Office of the Chief Executive.

The position operates in a politically sensitive and demanding environment where confidentiality and integrity are critical. The officer will be required to undertake a wide range of activities and will be expected to demonstrate a high-level understanding and awareness of the political landscape.

Special conditions

The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.

The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration

ASO4 $79,432 - $83,266 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%) and leave loading.
