Shift Engineer

As the Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining all facility operations and building management systems across the hospital. You will provide technical support to a project within the engineering services team of a large site in Perth CBD. In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide technical support to ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of all building and mechanical services within the project area.
  • Investigate, diagnose, report, and recommend technical solutions relating to complex faults on existing plant, equipment, and systems. Initiates appropriate corrective actions.
  • Undertakes technical investigations regarding improvements to, and enhancements of, existing services. Documents and reports results to Supervisor.
  • Monitor and supervise plant operations whilst on shift to comply with policy and instructions.
  • Undertakes and completes project work as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Coordinates and directs the activities of trades staff and contractors when assigned.
  • Assists in the administration of maintenance contracts.
  • Comply with site policies and procedures, code of conduct, and other relevant legislation.
  • Respond to minor emergency repairs required throughout the hospital buildings, facilities and plants
  • Carrying out steam boiler checks and water chemical analysis tests
  • Provide advice and compile reports on project works carried out
  • Undertake high voltage switching procedures when necessary
  • Support the wider facilities team with any other business to support the team workflow

In order to be considered, you must have:

  • Possession of a relevant Marine or Electrical Engineering qualification (Overseas qualifications must be recognised by Engineers Australia)
  • Extensive knowledge of plant operations and building services.
  • Experience in the management and supervision of trades staff and contractors is desirable
  • Effective PC based skills
  • High Voltage Switching Operators (HVSO) certification is desirable
  • Boiler attendant certification is desirable
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of emergency situation procedures
  • Current 'C' or 'C.A' class driver's licence
  • Flexibility in working on a shift roster
