Head of Group Strategy & Portfolio

As the Head of Strategy and Portfolio you will have a central role in shaping, coordinating, and stewarding our strategic direction, ensuring our priorities are clear, our portfolio is focused, and our efforts are aligned to long‑term success.

About the role

As a senior leader, you'll lead and develop a high‑performing strategy team, manage the function's budget, and drive continuous improvement in how strategy and portfolio management are done across HBF.

You'll also lead how strategy is shaped, prioritised, and managed across HBF, bringing clarity and discipline to our strategic planning and portfolio decisions. As the custodian of our strategic framework, you'll work closely with the Executive and Board to develop and refresh the Group Strategic Plan, Group Business Plan, and OKRs.

You'll guide the annual planning process, define how initiatives are prioritised and sequenced, and provide enterprise level oversight of the strategic portfolio, tracking progress, value realisation, and alignment to our long-term goals. You'll also keep a close eye on market and competitor insights to help inform future direction.

About you

You're a seasoned strategy leader with a strong commercial mindset and the ability to think big while staying grounded in execution. You've spent time in senior corporate or consulting environments, where you've helped organisations define strategy, navigate complexity, and make smart portfolio choices.

You're comfortable working at executive and board level, using strong analytical thinking, clear storytelling, and sound judgement to influence decisions. You know how to balance long‑term ambition with practical trade offs, and you bring a disciplined, best‑practice approach to strategic planning and portfolio management.

With experience leading teams and driving organisation wide initiatives, you enjoy bringing people together with a shared direction. You're curious, commercially astute, and motivated by continuous improvement, always looking for better ways to create value. You also bring:

• Several years' experience in senior corporate or consulting based strategy roles
• Experience in project or portfolio management and delivering complex initiatives
• Strong analytical, financial, and strategic thinking capability
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to tailor your messaging to your audience
