About The Role

Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, this is a hands-on role working across both office and site environments. You will support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with workplace health & safety, environmental, and quality standards.

You will work closely with project teams to promote a strong safety culture and ensure effective systems are in place across all operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of the Integrated Management System (IMS)
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and WHS standards
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and task observations
  • Assist in incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Support implementation of policies and procedures at site level
  • Support project teams with risk assessments, SWMS, and hazard identification
  • Deliver and support HSEQ training, inductions, and toolbox talks
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage hazard reporting
  • Maintain accurate HSEQ documentation and records
  • Assist with return-to-work coordination and WorkCover processes

About You

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (minimum requirement)
  • Construction White Card (mandatory)
  • Current Queensland Driver’s Licence
  • Experience working on DTMR (Department of Transport and Main Roads) projects highly regarded
  • Experience in a similar HSEQ, WHS, or safety-focused role (civil or construction highly regarded)
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and best practice principles
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with site teams and management
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple sites
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Additional Information

This role involves travel to various project sites and includes site office and field-based work. It is not a FIFO role, and the successful candidate will be required to be based in Cairns or the Far North Queensland region.
