Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Occupational Therapist Grade 4 Mental Health Clinician to join our Older Adult community mental health team (SOACS) Specialist Older adult consultation/community service.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role
- This role requires that you have an awareness of the complexities of mental health in older persons.
- This role requires an enthusiastic occupational therapist with experience of working in Mental health, including a passion caring for the older person.
- You will have sound assessment and risk assessment skills.
- You will be working as a Key clinician at SOACS Broadmeadows Site.
- You will be mobile, flexible and comfortable visiting a diverse range of Older adults in their home or aged care facilities.
- You will be confident and comfortable working as part of team and seeking support and consult of team members as required.
- This role is an ongoing permanent position.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience of least 2 years working in mental health setting and a good working knowledge of the Mental health and well-being act
- Proven ability to beFlexible and adaptable, and able to safely prioritise community care- having sound time management skills and able to work as a collaborative team member.
- Demonstrated Mental Health assessment / risk assessment skills, as well as excellent documentation skills.
- Well-developed engagement skills, being able to work with older people from diverse / disenfranchised backgrounds. As well as Ability to undertake a range of interventions with consumers.
- Have current driver’s license and confidant navigating the northwest areas of Melbourne.
- Able to Escalate concerns re safety, quality and risk to appropriate staff if unable to rectify yourself.
- Have Registration under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
- An approved Degree from a recognised school of Occupational Therapy or other qualifications approved for eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Occupational Therapy (Vic.).
