Your Role And Responsibilities

Data Consultant – Data Strategy for a 15 months fixed term contract, based in Melbourne.
The Data & Analytics Tower Lead is responsible for driving a client’s enterprise data platform strategy, overseeing both legacy on-premises data ecosystems and modern Azure cloud-native architectures to ensure scalable, secure, and business-aligned analytics capabilities. This role will lead the execution of a clients Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) transformation, including the migration from current state platforms to a hybrid cloud model using Azure Databricks

To ensure success in the role you will possess the following skills –
- Deep IBM expertise across software, methods, assets and accelerators, including proven experience with IBM's data integration frameworks, IBM Watsonx AI capabilities, IBM Consulting Advantage (ICA) accelerators, and IBM's industry-specific utilities accelerators to rapidly deliver value and de-risk platform implementations
- Enterprise data platform transformation leadership with a track record of successfully migrating from complex legacy environments to hybrid cloud architectures (on-prem + Azure), specifically designing and implementing Bronze-Silver-Gold medallion architectures on Azure Databricks while maintaining on-premises operational resilience
- Hands-on Azure cloud architecture expertise including Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Power BI enterprise reporting, and cloud FinOps practices to achieve operational cost optimization
- Proven ability to resolve complex data quality and integration challenges, particularly addressing duplicate data across multiple platforms, inconsistent data models requiring complex joins, and SAP EAM ingestion issue, while establishing robust data governance, data catalogues, and data lineage capabilities
- Strategic delivery management with experience leading $10M+ data programmes, managing hybrid delivery models, and executing phased roadmaps including platform foundation setup, use case migrations, and legacy system decommissioning
- Utilities sector domain knowledge with understanding of electricity metering systems, network operations data, customer information system, DER management, and regulatory compliance requirements specific to the Australian energy industry
- AI and advanced analytics enablement using IBM Watsonx and Azure Machine Learning to enhance self-service capabilities, deliver data product thinking, and enable data scientists and analysts with modern tooling to overcome current platform unavailability issues
