Our client, a globally operating engineering consultancy, has exclusively retained us to identify a Major Projects Executive to lead their Transport division in Queensland. With a strong and growing pipeline of road and rail infrastructure across the state, this is a career-defining opportunity for an established leader ready to shape delivery outcomes at the highest level.

The Opportunity

As a seasoned leader in transport infrastructure delivery, you will lead the planning and execution of high-value projects across Queensland. This is a pivotal role for a strategic thinker with deep expertise in delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects.

You will be accountable for the successful delivery of large-scale transport infrastructure, ensuring alignment with client expectations, safety standards, and strategic business outcomes — while leading multidisciplinary design teams, managing key stakeholder relationships, and driving innovation across all phases of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of major transport projects, predominantly road and highway focused
  • Manage complex project budgets and financial performance, ensuring profitability and margin protection
  • Drive work-winning efforts including bid strategy, proposal development, commercial positioning, and direct client engagement to secure new major project opportunities
  • Establish and maintain robust systems for risk management, compliance, and project governance
  • Drive client-centric practices and maintain exceptional client relationships at the executive level
  • Champion Digital Engineering and Digital Delivery across project teams
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies and contractors

What You Bring

  • 20+ years’ experience in transport infrastructure, with proven success delivering complex, high-value projects within a consultancy environment
  • Extensive experience delivering for key Queensland clients, including the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
  • Demonstrated capability leading multi-disciplinary design teams at scale
  • Expertise managing large-scale budgets and interpreting financial statements
  • Strong leadership in project governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement
  • Deep understanding of public and private sector processes and client-side engagement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent — RPEQ preferred
