Offering an exciting and diverse workplace, we are looking for an experienced Senior Media and Communications Manager to join the marketing and communications (MAC) team and lead media and communications at Museums Victoria.
Vibe Check: The Role
Reporting to the Director of Communications, Stakeholder and Visitor Engagement, this role is accountable for nurturing and growing MV's profile, driving visitation across the museums and protecting, promoting and advancing the organisation's reputation in curatorial and research excellence.
As the Senior Manager of Media and Communications, this position will lead the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of all communication outputs across our diverse portfolio.
The Senior Manager leads a high-functioning media team, ensuring that appropriate processes and procedures are in place to support a best-in-class communications function, that continually measures and evaluates its effectiveness.
Responsible for proactive and reactive communications, the successful candidate will lead with creativity, strategic insight, and a strong understanding of the global media landscape.

Relevant skills and attributes: About you
- Extensive experience in strategic PR/journalism/communications/community engagement. A wealth of knowledge, coupled with the maturity to navigate complex situations with confidence.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including staff, media and industry peers. Government stakeholder experience will be looked upon favourably.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality strategies, plans, media materials, correspondence, ministerial briefs and reports.
- A values-based leader with a passion for purpose who can inspire, and mentor a success driven media team, ensuring excellence in all communications and media relations.
- A cool operator with the proven ability to juggle multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously, coupled with the maturity to adapt to and navigate complex situations with confidence.
- A data-led, insights and results-driven team member who utilises insights and analytics to support decision-making and improve performance.
- Anticipate and manage potential issues with a calm and strategic approach, ensuring that our messaging is clear and effective in all situations.
- A self-driven go-getter who excels in a fast-paced environment and can land creative solutions to make things happen.

Other information
This role is a full-time, fixed term position for 13 months. The salary on offer is VPS 5.1 $116,413 pro rata, per annum plus 12% superannuation.
