Primary objective

Provide high quality, culturally sensitive nursing/midwifery care to clients to achieve best patient outcomes whilst completing the

Northern Territory Graduate Registered Nurse/Midwife Program.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.

2. Works within the registered nurse/midwife scope of practice and according to evidence-based practice and legislation.

3. Works respectfully and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.

4. Participates in quality improvement opportunities.

5. Foster a positive workplace culture through role modelling appropriate behaviour.

6. Follows defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures relating to the work

being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

7. Capacity to work shift work and be redeployed to other clinical areas to meet clinical needs.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Current registration as a registered nurse or registered midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.

2. Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to, co-ordinate client care resulting in positive clinical outcomes.

3. Demonstrated written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to contribute effectively within the multidisciplinary

team.

4. Demonstrated understanding of the impact of social and cultural challenges experienced by vulnerable groups/communities

and the role of the nurse/midwife in supporting them.

5. Knowledge and understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles in a health care setting.

The preferred or recommended applicant will be required to hold a current working with children clearance notice and undergo a

criminal history check. A criminal history will not exclude an applicant from this position unless it is relevant to the position. This
