As the Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day project operations from a commercial perspective and play a pivotal role in maintaining client relationships, analysing strategies, creating mitigation measures, and developing improved action plans for the profitability of the project.
About the Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, responsibilities include:
- Prepare and submit monthly client progress claims
- Oversee cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Manage project procurement
- Manage site (contract) administration
- Head contract and Subcontractor Administration
- Assist with financial audits (internal and external).
- Monitor and report on government policy requirements.
- Provide commercial advice and support to the project team.
Key Requirements
- Tertiary Qualifications and Background in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Commercial Law or similar.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Senior Commercial roles in the Australian Construction or Resource industry, at least 3 years working on the contractor side (RTIO Desirable)
- Experienced in the detailed application of commercial and finance systems and processes and providing high-level guidance and advice to operational and project managers.
- Experience in effective and profitable management of contracts. This includes identification of, and managing risks, cost, and Change management along with tendering and awarding project procurement.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of settling claims.
- Experience with Hard Dollar/Lump Sum contracts.
- Ability to mentor junior team members.
- Valid Australian driver’s license, national police clearance and full Australian working rights.
