POSITION DETAILS
The Management Accountant supports the finance team and operational managers to deliver accurate contract accounting financial reporting and analysis, ensuring effective financial management and informed decision making.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Prepare annual budgets and mid year forecasts for contracts and the organisation
- Develop and maintain rolling forecasts and monthly variance reporting
- Partner with managers to analyse financial performance trends and contract variances
- Provide clear financial insights and recommendations to support decision making and productivity improvements
- Prepare board and committee reports and support contract performance analysis
- Develop and implement finance policies procedures and frameworks to strengthen budgeting reporting and forecasting capability
Accounting
- Ensure accurate financial coding and support finance processes and data integrity
- Prepare end of month journals including allocation of funding and overheads across programs
- Support month end and year end processes including reconciliations and reporting
- Provide financial information and support for audits and maintain accurate records and documentation
- Act as backup support for the Senior Finance Manager when required
- Maintain safe work practices and complete other duties as directed by the Finance Manager
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills with strong capability in Excel
- Ability to deliver management accounting services while engaging stakeholders and managing competing priorities
- Strong capability to prepare analyse and communicate financial information clearly
- High level experience with accounting systems such as SAP Business One and reporting tools such as Phocus or similar
- Relevant Business or Accounting degree with experience in a similar finance role
- Current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance or Yellow Card (willing to obtain)
Desirable
- Full membership of professional body such as Australian Certified Practicing Accountants CPA
