A rapidly growing organisation operating within the defence sector is seeking a hands‑on Finance Manager / Senior Accountant to support the establishment and growth of its Australian operations. This business is in an exciting phase, building its presence locally and opening a Brisbane office, offering a unique opportunity to join early and play a key role in shaping the finance function.

Your new role

This is a broad, hands‑on finance role suited to someone who enjoys operating across both technical and operational finance in a growing environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the month‑end close and financial reporting
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
• Overseeing transactional finance, including AP, AR and reconciliations
• Ensuring compliance with Australian reporting and tax requirements
• Partnering with local and international stakeholders
• Supporting the setup and improvement of finance processes and systems
• Assisting with audits and financial governance requirements

What you'll need to succeed

• CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent)
• Proven experience in a hands‑on finance role within an SME or growing business
• Strong technical accounting and compliance knowledge
• Comfortable supporting across both strategic and transactional finance
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work autonomously in a developing business environment
• Eligible to obtain Australian Baseline Security Clearance (essential)
