What you'll be doing

The purpose of the position is to provide medical care and support, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, which is consistent with the level of clinical competency and experience. This includes the assessment and management of patients across several clinical departments under the supervision of senior practitioners whilst developing broad skills in clinical decision making and practice.

How to apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Current unconditional authority to practice as a Medical Officer with the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Sound clinical knowledge and demonstrated recent clinical experience of caring for patients and their families holistically and ethically, through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
  • Demonstrated sound interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to ensuring high quality of patient care through participating in peer review, quality assurance, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management activities relevant to the specialty.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively contribute to own continuing professional development. Demonstrated experience of and commitment to medical education and willingness to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of other health professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites.
  • Demonstrated exceptional and sensitive verbal, written and electronic clinical communication to facilitate open and effective relationships patients, families and colleagues and demonstrated commitment to provision of a high standard of clinical care in the public sector setting.
