The opportunity
This is a career‑defining opportunity for an accomplished academic leader to shape the future of accounting education at UniSC. Appointed on an ongoing basis as Associate Professor of Accounting, you will also undertake the role of Discipline Lead for Accounting and Finance for an initial three‑year term, with scope to make a visible and lasting impact.
Reporting to Professor Mark Loon, Dean, School of Business and Creative Industries, you will provide academic leadership across learning and teaching, curriculum innovation, research‑informed practice and people development. With a strong focus on educational excellence and student success, this role is central to ensuring our commerce programs remain contemporary, professionally aligned and future‑focused.
You will work closely with colleagues across the School to lead curriculum renewal, support accreditation readiness, strengthen industry engagement and build a high‑performing, inclusive academic culture. A key dimension of the role will be developing our people, mentoring early and mid‑career academics and researchers, supporting capability building, and fostering an environment where scholarship, innovation and collaboration can thrive.
Research and scholarship are valued as enablers of impact at UniSC, enriching teaching practice, informing curriculum design and contributing to the standing and reputation of the discipline.
This role offers rare scope to lead with influence, develop people and programs, and contribute to outcomes that matter at both discipline and institutional level.
You will
- Provide academic leadership across accounting and finance, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing and inclusive discipline culture
- Lead curriculum design, renewal and quality assurance across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, ensuring alignment with accreditation and industry expectations
- Deliver high‑quality teaching that engages and challenges students across a range of delivery modes
- Contribute to research and scholarship that informs teaching practice and strengthens disciplinary impact
- Mentor and support academic staff and early career academics, contributing to capability building and succession planning
- Build and sustain productive relationships with industry, professional bodies, and external stakeholders to enhance student outcomes and employability
- Contribute to School and University governance, planning and strategic initiatives aligned with UniSC’s priorities
