Operating within a highly specialised and regulated sector, this business is experiencing significant growth and requires a senior finance leader to establish and lead its local finance function. This is a foundational leadership role, suited to someone who thrives in a high‑growth, evolving environment, where both strategic oversight and hands‑on execution are critical to success.

Your new role

Reporting to the global CFO, you will be responsible for building and leading the Australian finance function from the ground up, while acting as the key interface between local operations and international headquarters.

Key responsibilities include:

• Establishing the finance function, systems and controls for the Australian business
• Leading financial governance, ensuring full compliance with Australian regulatory requirements
• Acting as the finance lead across large, complex government contracts, including milestone billing and reporting
• Owning financial planning, cashflow management and strategic decision support
• Building and mentoring a high‑performing local finance team
• Partnering with senior leadership to support growth strategy and commercial decision‑making
• Managing relationships with global stakeholders and ensuring alignment with international reporting requirements

What you'll need to succeed

• CA/CPA qualified with extensive senior finance leadership experience
• Demonstrated success working within high‑growth or scaling businesses, ideally supporting market entry or expansion
• Strong understanding of regulatory, statutory and tax requirements in Australia
• Experience working with government contracts or highly regulated environments
• Defence sector exposure highly regarded
• Proven ability to build, lead and develop finance teams
• Comfortable operating in both a strategic and hands‑on capacity
• Strong stakeholder management skills across both local and global environments
