Overview of role
Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the Maintenance Services Manager provides operational leadership for Coliban Water’s maintenance services.
This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and cost‑effective maintenance of mechanical assets, plant and fleet across our insourced operations.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team and oversee end‑to‑end maintenance service delivery, including mechanical maintenance, shutdowns and outages, inventory and warehousing, fleet and plant management, and operational procurement.
The role is pivotal in building capability, improving systems and driving continuous improvement to enhance asset reliability and frontline service outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead, coach and develop high‑performing maintenance teams, fostering a strong safety‑first and continuous improvement culture.
- Oversee mechanical maintenance services across water and wastewater assets such as pumps, treatment plant equipment, chemical dosing systems and generators.
- Plan and coordinate planned shutdowns and outages, ensuring safe systems of work and effective contractor management.
- Provide strategic oversight of stores, inventory and warehousing, including critical spares strategies and stock optimisation.
- Manage Coliban Water’s fleet and operational plant, including lifecycle planning, compliance, utilisation and replacement strategies.
- Champion health, safety, environmental and legislative compliance across all maintenance activities.
- Develop and manage maintenance budgets, track performance and drive efficiency, reliability and value for money.
- Contribute technical expertise to capital planning, renewals programs and long‑term asset strategies.
About you
You are a confident and collaborative leader with extensive experience in maintenance services within an asset‑intensive environment such as water, utilities, industrial or infrastructure operations. You bring strong technical credibility, sound judgement and the ability to translate strategy into practical, reliable maintenance outcomes.
You will also bring:
- Extensive experience in maintenance services leadership, including mechanical maintenance, fleet and plant management and shutdown coordination.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage contractors and external service providers.
- Strong knowledge of asset lifecycle management, reliability engineering and risk‑based maintenance planning.
- Experience contributing to capital planning and long‑term maintenance and renewal strategies.
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, asset management or a related discipline.
- A strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship and public sector values.

Salary
The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2021 Band 5, $115,162 - $148,079 plus super salary range will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their skills and experience
