Accounts Assistant - Motor Trade

Essentials (You Must Have)

Proven experience supporting finance operations across multi-sites
Strong capability in purchase ledger management and account reconciliation
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively

As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the Volvo and Polestar brands by carrying out a wide range of core finance tasks, including managing sales and purchase ledgers, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month‑end activities.

Key Responsibilities

Sales ledger duties: posting bank transactions, credit control, and following up debtor queries with departmental managers and customers
Nominal ledger: posting bank, intercompany and other nominal ledger journals
Managing and reconciling petty cash
Assisting with month‑end close processes and resolving related queries
Purchase ledger: coding and inputting invoices and credit notes, reconciling supplier statements, running payments, and resolving supplier queries
Responding promptly to internal and external finance queries
Maintaining accurate financial records, documentation, and filing systems

About You

Excellent numeracy skills with strong attention to detail
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)
Experience working under pressure while maintaining high levels of accuracy
Confident handling queries face‑to‑face, over the phone, and via email
Previous experience in a similar Accounts Assistant role, ideally within a fast‑paced, multi‑site business
