The Role
Nestled near the beautiful parklands and convenient shopping hubs of Glen Waverley, Highvale Retirement Village offers a modern, welcoming environment where residents truly feel at home—and where team members can build rewarding careers.
We’re looking for a customer-focused and reliable Village Support Officer to join our team and help deliver exceptional, person-centred assistance to our residents and village staff. At Highvale, you’ll be part of a supportive community that values respect, dignity, and meaningful connections.
As part of our team, you’ll help create a welcoming and engaging community, supporting residents in their daily lives while promoting independence and assisting with a variety of tasks across the village as a valued all-rounder.
Reporting to the Village Manager, your duties will include:
- Building positive, respectful relationships with residents to enhance their quality of life and sense of belonging
- Conducting welfare checks to ensure resident comfort and safety
- Responding to resident enquiries and assisting with meal delivery where required
- Responding to call outs and initiating emergency services where required
- Undertaking first aid where required
- Initiating emergency services where required
- Performing basic administrative tasks
- Assisting with our colourful village events
- Providing assistance with miscellaneous tasks around the village, as directed by manager
Shifts
Shifts will mainly focus on afternoons, extending into overnight (sleepover) shifts, with regular weekend work required. There will also be opportunities to provide leave coverage across day, afternoon/night shifts during the week, along with availability for on-call support.
We encourage applicants who are flexible and able to work across afternoon, sleepover, and weekend shifts to apply.
Shift hours throughout the week are as follows:
- Day shift: 7am – 3pm
- Afternoon shift: 3pm – 9pm + sleepover shift, with the shift finishing at 7am
About You
A professional and positive approach is required at all times to ensure that all residents’ needs are met, as well as having the following:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse community
- Demonstrated customer service experience
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with an approachable personality that helps build trust and rapport with residents, families, and team members
- A current First Aid & CPR Certificate (or be willing to obtain)
- Have strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks effectively
- The ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations
- Be highly motivated and able to take initiative
- Have basic computer skills
