The Commercial Applications Section within the Business Solutions Branch of Client's Information Management and Technology Division has a requirement to fill the role of Technical Change Analyst.

The Technical Change Analyst resources will provide support for projects across the branch to perform change and training facilitation.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Technical Change Analyst will be an expert in preparing and implementing change and training artefacts to support stakeholders and end users to transition from current state to future state for ICT delivery projects.

The Technical Change Analyst will follow best-practice processes to maximise ICT system adoption and the realisation of benefits, while minimising stresses on the business users and end users caused by change. The Change Analysts will deliver on training, communications, and stakeholder engagement. Change Analysts will have dual reporting lines, and work to the Project Manager when assigned to a Project team and will also report to the Program Change and Engagement lead to ensure compliance to IMD’s organisation change management framework.

Project Deliverables for the Technical Change Analyst include, but are not limited to:

• Discovery pack including identification of problem statement and vision, stakeholder map, personas and persona journeys, pain points and benefits (in collaboration with Business Analysts).

• Change Management and Communications Planning support for both Business and End users.

• Contributing to communication content, including emails, intranet posts, FAQs, briefing packs, and stakeholder updates

• Contributing to the benefits realisation plan and provision of benefits realisation support, including collecting and validating baseline data, metrics, and success indicators.

• Training Planning and Materials Development. Development of training content such as user guides, short format videos, and online learning modules.

Technical skills

Qualification and/or accreditation in Change Management are desirable (ADKAR, Kotter, Prosci, ACMP).

About the project

The Salesforce program within DFAT has been running since 2019 and is responsible for a broad remit of new and ongoing work ranging from Consular and Crisis support of Australians overseas, implementation of Trade sanctions and governance, and implementation of Australian Student Scholarship programs, to name a few. We are looking for motivated professionals to join our dynamic team to deliver a sustainable Salesforce ecosystem to manage a complex and varied workload.

Essential criteria

  • 1.
  • Minimum of 3 years previous experience in an ICT Change Analyst role delivering desired business outcomes in complex ICT projects.
  • 2.
  • Knowledge of change management methodologies, tools and structure, and applying to ICT Delivery in a “Wagile” project utilising Agile rituals within Prince2 governance framework.
  • 3.
  • Experience in assessing training needs and preparing training user guides, videos and online courses.
  • 4.
  • Ability to prepare communication plans and deliver drafted and timely communications content as per business requirements.
  • 5.
  • Experience with identifying benefits, supporting the delivery of benefits, and providing evidence-based outcomes of benefits realisation
  • 6.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver artefacts on time and to quality expectations.
  • Exceptional level of interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills and an ability to effectively develop strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and operational staff.
  • Persuasive oral and written communication skills including effectiveness in negotiation and liaison.

Desirable criteria

  • 1.
  • Experience with managing User Acceptance Testing with business and end users.
  • 2.
  • Experience with human centred design and designing with accessibility built in.
  • 3.
  • Experience with conducting user research to inform requirements and design.
  • 4.
  • Experience working on secure government systems and in a complex global ICT environment.
  • Experience with project management systems, tools, and processes and how these are practically used in Agile and Waterfall environments (DevOps, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Project).
