Project Assistant/Coordinator
Aurecon Group
Just imagine a future with us...
Aurecon is a design, engineering and advisory company, but not as you know it!
Drawing on our deep pool of technical and advisory expertise, we co-create innovative solutions with our clients to some of the world's most complex challenges. And through a range of unique creative processes and skills, we work to re-imagine, shape and design a better future.
What will you do?
As a Project Assistant/Coordinator in our Darwin Program Performance Advisory team, you’ll play a key support role across a range of Defence facilities and infrastructure projects.
You’ll work alongside experienced Project Managers and Directors, helping keep projects organised, on track, and running smoothly. This is a great opportunity to learn on the job, build your skills, and gain exposure to large, meaningful projects that make a real impact.
You don’t need to know everything on day one - we’ll provide support and training. What matters most is your enthusiasm, willingness to learn and your readiness to contribute.
In this role, you will:
Support project teams with planning, coordination and day-to-day delivery activities
Assist with tracking progress, reporting, and maintaining project documentation
Help coordinate stakeholders and keep communication flowing across teams
Support multiple concurrent projects across the entire life cycle, including initiation, design management, tendering, contract administration, financial management, project scheduling and risk management
Learn the fundamentals of project management across the full project lifecycle
What can you bring to the team?
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, organised, and keen to build a career in project delivery.
You might already have some experience in an administration, organisation, supporting teams, coordination, or project support role - or you could be early in your career and looking for the right opportunity to get started, with the right attitude and work ethic, this may be a role for you.
What’s most important is that you:
Bring a positive, can-do attitude and take initiative
Are well organised with strong attention to detail
Are self-driven, with a willingness to learn while contributing on the job
Can effectively prioritise and manage multiple tasks across a range of projects
Communicate clearly and confidently, with strong written skills and attention to grammar
Enjoy working in a supportive, team-focused environment
Are curious and motivated to develop new skills
It is highly desirable (but not essential) if you have:
Some experience in administration, coordination, or project support roles
Practical, real-world trade or project experience
Exposure supporting construction projects in any capacity
Familiarity with construction, infrastructure, or consulting environments
A relevant qualification in Project Management or Engineering, or currently working toward one (e.g., Diploma or Degree)
You’ll also need to:
Be an Australian Citizen and eligible for security clearance (AGSVA requirements apply) and hold a valid drivers licence.
Why join us?
You’ll be joining a friendly, supportive team that genuinely invests in developing its people. We understand that everyone starts somewhere - so we focus on helping you grow and develop your skills.
Our Aurecon Attributes describe the types of people we bring together for our clients. We don't expect you to have all eight of the attributes, but one that is unique to you.
Diversity is at the core of everything we do. We work together to create a culture based on respect, trust, and inclusiveness. Our differences are what fuel our creativity.
Finally, we value that each of our team members brings something different to Aurecon. We look for people who have had a broad range of experiences throughout their career and can demonstrate how they have worked as part of a team to bring ideas to life.
