Primary Objective

To co-ordinate the maintenance function in accordance with Preventative and Breakdown maintenance plan and ensuring that the safety, quality and cost parameters are optimally met. To provide leadership and direction to the Processing Plant Maintenance Employee’s through clear and concise work instructions, defined expectations and regular monitoring of work practices. The identification and implementation of plant improvements particularly as this relates to the maintenance function.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance

Support any production (lost time) or maintenance problems and to conduct root cause analysis and recommend solutions which would lead to the issue not re-occurring
Ensure that all engineering performance data is collected and analysed
Ensure that all engineering data relating to the maintenance function is regularly updated and maintained accurately
To follow and add to the weekly maintenance plan to ensure all breakdown, unplanned and planned work is completed in a timely manner
Pro active management of the trades group
Coaching of trade groups
Reinforce agreed boundaries, behaviours and disciplines for the trades group
Ensure that work carried out is within the scope of the maintenance budget
Co-ordinate a maintenance plan for Trade people on a daily/weekly basis.
Plan and organize equipment, parts and tools for work requirements
Plan and prioritize workload based on criticality
Support all maintenance data is accurately maintained and updated including computer records
Ensure information and skill's are passed on through shift discussions and shift change over
Work with the Production Supervisor and Plant Maintenance Manager to ensure that adequate maintenance windows of opportunity to progress work and all requirements are met
Regular discussions with Plant Maintenance Manager on issues impacting on the Processing Plant reliability and maintenance employee's

Engineering

Equipment maintained to manufacturers specifications
Working with unit personnel to develop engineering solutions
Manage Contractors
Identify, source and stock relevant spare parts

Quality

Adherence to HACCP and ensure all work complies with GMP standards
Co-ordinate QA issues raised relative to maintenance responsibilities
Assist with the implementation of a culture of performance excellence with respect to safety, quality and customer service and of a continuous improvement culture at the site

Oh&s

Support and implement, in conjunction with the OHS Officer, a Occupational Health and Safety Program, which will eliminate lost time injuries
Analyze all injuries, with the Injury Manager, and establish preventative program including inspection programs
Complete Accident Investigation and conduct root cause analysis
Conduct all planned inspections effectively

Training

Prepare and implement Work Instructions (WI’s) consistent with Quality Improvement, OH&S and Quality Policies and Procedures and assist with the preparation of SOP’s required for the Maintenance Department
Work with the trades group and HR to develop and update training material to ensure that all personnel receive adequate training
Develop WI and in conjunction with Plant Maintenance Manager
Working with HR, prepare and present training modules
Conduct assessments
Procedures in place and signed off by trade personnel

Reporting

Maintenance reports, eg shift handovers.

Maintenance Records

Ensure all records are maintained in accurate and timely, effective manner
Ensuring team members enter all daily work done on shift log at the end of working shift

Performance Management

Ensure all team members comply to Hazeldene’s Policies in respect to conduct/behaviour including (but not limited to)

Attendance/Absenteeism
OH&S
Hazeldene’s Code of Conduct

Ensure all team members perform work as required in an efficient & safe manner & to the quality standards required (turnaround time and fit for purpose)
