Business Analyst
Ocean Software
Want to help shape software that supports complex, mission-critical operations?
At Ocean, we develop software used in high-stakes, highly regulated environments where reliability, clarity and quality matter. We’re looking for a Business Analyst who can work across stakeholders, unpack complex needs, and translate them into well-defined, practical solutions that support the ongoing evolution of our products.
This is a great opportunity for a Business Analyst with 3–5 years’ experience who is ready to take the next step - someone with strong foundational capability, a genuine curiosity to learn, and an appetite for working in complex, mission-critical environments where attention to detail and quality outcomes are essential.
You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy solving real problems, working closely with both technical and non-technical teams, and bringing structure, clarity and momentum to product enhancement work. You’ll be part of a collaborative team where your judgement, thinking and ability to translate requirements into meaningful outcomes will have a real impact.
What you’ll do
You’ll partner with stakeholders, developers and delivery teams to gather, analyse and document business and functional requirements for product enhancements. You’ll turn complexity into clear user stories and acceptance criteria, support functional design, contribute to testing and validation, and ensure documentation is accurate, practical and fit for purpose.
You’ll also play an important role in helping teams and clients understand new functionality, support continuous improvement, and ensure solutions are aligned to both user needs and operational realities.
You’ll be a great fit if you are someone who:
- Enjoys working in complexity and can bring clarity to ambiguous or evolving requirements
- Naturally curious and asks the right questions to get to the heart of a problem
- Can confidently work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Takes ownership and follows through to delivery
- Values quality, precision and well-documented outcomes
- Enjoys improving systems, processes and ways of working
- Thrives in collaborative environments where people work together to solve meaningful problems
What you’ll bring
- 3–5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst in a software or technology environment
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile delivery
- Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria and requirements documentation
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
- Experience facilitating workshops and requirement discussions
- Australian Citizenship and eligibility for Australian Defence Security Clearance
Nice to have
- Experience in aviation, defence or other highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with APIs, integrations and data flows
- Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, SQL, Miro or Figma
