This permanent Head of AI and Data opportunity offers the chance to shape and lead Pacific Blue’s enterprise approach to Artificial Intelligence, data governance, and knowledge management at a pivotal stage of transformation. You will drive the responsible and practical adoption of AI across the organisation, establishing the foundations that enable smarter ways of working, improved decision-making, and sustainable business outcomes.
This is a highly visible leadership role with broad influence across the business, where you will define strategy and deliver initiatives that create meaningful impact. You will identify opportunities to leverage AI and enterprise knowledge capabilities to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and support Pacific Blue's transition toward an AI-enabled operating model, balancing innovation with governance and long-term business value.
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Melbourne.
What you’ll be responsible for
Strategic Leadership and AI Governance - Lead the development and implementation of Pacific Blue’s enterprise AI and data strategy, establishing robust governance frameworks that enable secure, responsible, and scalable AI adoption. Drive organisational capability and ensure appropriate controls are embedded across AI use, data management, privacy, and risk practices.
Enterprise Transformation and Value Creation - Identify and deliver opportunities to leverage AI and enterprise knowledge capabilities to improve operational efficiency, reduce low-value manual work, and strengthen business processes. Lead initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes, balancing innovation with practicality and long-term business value.
Data and Knowledge Enablement - Establish and mature enterprise knowledge and data foundations that support scalable AI solutions and informed decision-making. Define ownership, governance, and lifecycle approaches for critical data and knowledge assets to ensure information is accessible, reliable, and strategically leveraged across the organisation.
Stakeholder Leadership and Delivery - Build strong partnerships across the business to translate strategic priorities into practical AI and technology solutions. Work collaboratively with internal technology teams and external partners to drive delivery, influence change, and ensure initiatives achieve sustainable outcomes.
Performance, Risk and Continuous Improvement - Monitor and evaluate the impact of AI initiatives and transformation programs, ensuring value realisation, appropriate risk management, and continuous improvement. Provide meaningful insights to senior leadership on progress, outcomes, and future opportunities.
Knowledge and Experience
- Professional qualifications in Computer Science, Information Security, Data, Technology, or a related discipline
- 15+ years of experience across data, digital transformation, technology, or related fields, including experience in AI-related environments
- Strong understanding of AI technologies and their practical business applications
- Knowledge of AI governance, data security, data management, and model risk principles
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide transformation initiatives and delivering measurable business outcomes
- Experience partnering with IT teams and external vendors to deliver scalable technology solutions
- Experience in process optimisation, internal controls, risk, or compliance-related initiatives

- Proven ability to translate business priorities into practical AI and technology solutions
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability, with the ability to align business and technology priorities
- High levels of ownership and accountability, with a strong focus on outcomes and value creation
- Ability to challenge existing ways of working and drive meaningful change
- Strong judgement in balancing innovation, efficiency, risk, and governance considerations
- Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for a broad range of stakeholders
