About the Role
As an EL1 Assistant Director Financial Assurance (full-time, ongoing), you will lead the Agency’s financial management assurance program and financial management compliance system, operating with a high degree of independence. In this role, you will provide leadership to a small team of two staff and apply sound judgement and decision-making to ensure strong financial governance across the organisation. You will be responsible for the ongoing development and delivery of the annual financial assurance program, establishing and maintaining a comprehensive financial management framework, including associated policies, and administering the Agency’s financial compliance management system.
This role requires a proactive and strategic approach to strengthening financial practices, ensuring alignment with legislative and policy requirements, and driving continuous improvement in assurance activities. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to promote compliance, build organisational capability, and provide expert advice on financial management matters.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in financial management assurance, compliance frameworks, and governance.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in finance laws and policies and/or procurement and contract management obligations.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Government financial regulations, policies, and legislative obligations, with the ability to apply these effectively in practice.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and continuously improve assurance programs, frameworks, and control environments.
- Experience leading and supporting staff, including providing clear direction, coaching, and performance management.
- Demonstrated experience working within a Federal Government environment, with a strong understanding of APS processes, expectations, and accountability frameworks.

Eligibility
Australian citizenship is mandatory. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a national police clearance and the required Baseline security clearance, with the ability to attain a higher-level clearance if needed.
Notes: Order of Merit: Applicants rated as suitable will be placed in a merit pool that may be used to fill similar ongoing or non-ongoing positions throughout the Agency for up to 18 months.
