Disability Support Worker

  • Part time (minimum of 45 hours per fortnight)

The Role

We have opportunities available for Disability Support Workers to join our Day Program in Austral.

Key Objectives

This role has a number of key objectives highlighted (but not limited) to the following:

  • Contribute and actively participate in relevant programs that reflect NDIS plans and support needs.
  • Record progress of programs and individual support needs and goals in conjunction with their NDIS plans.
  • Engage participants in the development of skills that lead to employment, vocational education opportunities as well as supporting skill building and development that promote social inclusion.

To Be Successful You Need

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
  • National Police Check

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Ability to work with people with a disability, including those needing support around challenging behaviours and personal care.
  • Proven communication skills, both verbal and written, including an ability to communicate with participants and families from a range of cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to team work and development.
  • Understanding of WHS requirements and commitment to promote within the workplace.
  • Understanding of NDIS and Quality & Safeguarding framework.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing person centred approaches and models of service.
  • Ability to identify and understand the challenges faced by people with a disability from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
