Your new company
A leading Melbourne law firm is seeking to recruit an Associate with a minimum of 2 years’ post‑admission experience to join its well‑regarded Dispute Resolution and Litigation team.
This role presents a rare opportunity to work closely with a highly experienced Principal who has built a strong reputation for delivering practical, strategic and results‑driven litigation outcomes for clients across Australia. The practice is broad and intellectually engaging, with exposure to complex, high‑value disputes and hands‑on responsibility from an early stage.
Your new role
You will be involved in a diverse range of litigation matters, including:
- Building and construction disputes
- Property, leasing and franchising disputes
- Corporate and shareholder disputes
- Companies and insolvency matters
- Directors’ duties claims
- General commercial disputes and debt recovery
The team acts for clients across industries, including construction, property and real estate, corporate and commercial services, and manufacturing, and regularly runs matters across multiple jurisdictions.
You will work closely with senior practitioners who are clinically strong, commercially focused and deeply invested in mentoring and developing their team. The role offers genuine autonomy, meaningful client exposure and the opportunity to run matters commensurate with experience.
What you'll need to succeed
- Ideally, a minimum 2 years’ PAE in litigation and dispute resolution.
- Strong drafting skills, particularly in relation to court documents, correspondence and advice
- Sound understanding of litigation strategy, procedure and risk assessment
- Commercial, practical approach to resolving disputes and advising clients
- Confident communicator who enjoys direct client engagement and taking ownership of matters.
- Keen to develop as a litigator through hands‑on work, mentoring and exposure to complex disputes
