Organisation Description
Good Neighbours is an international development NGO founded in 1991 for the purpose of reducing poverty in some of the most marginalised communities around the world. It implements programs and projects to protect the rights of children and advocate for the most vulnerable, helping them achieve self-reliance and rebuild hope.
Good Neighbours Australia (GNAU) was launched in 2018 to support education, health, nutrition, water and sanitation, economic empowerment and relief efforts, while also responding to needs in the Australian community. It is a member of ACFID, registered with the ACNC, and has Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) and Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) status.
Role Description
The Senior Program Coordinator is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing international programs and partners, contributing towards growing the number of programs and staff resources, by identifying and helping secure further funding opportunities.
This role will involve managing partnerships and programmes including project design, project execution and delivery, and conducting MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning) by logical framework while ensuring compliance with MOUs, grant agreements, and the terms and conditions expected by donors. Also, as a program expert in a small team, it is expected you’ll be fully involved in philanthropic donor activities, sourcing grant opportunities and preparing applications.
The Senior Program Coordinator will be adept at relationship management, working closely with internal teams, external donors and implementing partners, to facilitate successful project delivery and outcomes for all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
At Good Neighbours Australia, you will be working closely with GNAU’s Executive Director and the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement as part of a small but growing team.
The role will:
- Develop, manage and maintain partnerships
- Develop, manage and grow international programs.
- Initiate new programs/projects based on organisational strategies and directions, as required.
- Ensure timely and high-quality completion of tasks related to grant research, writing, reporting and compliance. Especially, ensure the programs meet the Codes from ACFID and ANCP requirements, as specified by DFAT.
- Lead the preparation of AD plan for ANCP funding.
- Research and identify local and international grant opportunities.
- Lead and support the development and preparation of high-quality proposals for potential donors, in collaboration with in-country partners.
- Guide and oversee all aspects of the partnership management cycle including but not limited to capacity assessment, strengthening plan and training.
- Guide and oversee all aspects of the annual program management cycle, including but not limited to design appraisal, funding negotiations, monitoring project implementation, financial reporting, providing quality assurance, risk controls, and undertaking evaluations (Onsite as required).
- Ensure all donor reporting requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manage potential/identified risks on programs/projects including child protection and safeguarding.
- Ensure effective coordination and communication with local and implementing partners, including adapting to time zone differences.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and relevant agencies such as DFAT, ACFID, and Good Neighbours International.
- Draft new policies or manuals and review/update existing policies as required.
- Ensure all activities and outputs are aligned with organisational standards, compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Participate in global workshops, training sessions, and meetings, often outside of regular office hours to accommodate different time zones.
- Stay updated on internal and external factors such as environmental, political, and developmental changes that may impact implementing partners.
- Perform any ad hoc projects and assignments as requested by the Executive Director
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- 5+ years of relevant experience, working in partnership and program management.
- Proven experience in international development and program implementation.
- Proven experience in planning, managing and reporting ANCP funding.
- Strong understanding of compliance standards and requirements for the ACFID Code of Conduct, Australian Aid programs and other sectoral standards.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and cross-cultural awareness and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with flexibility to adjust to various time zones.
- Strong writing skills, with experience drafting policies, proposals, and reports. Experience in reviewing and proofreading documents and preparing technical documentation.
- Excellent organisational skills, including ability to plan, organise, prioritise and implement workflow to meet the objectives of the position, including being proactive and working independently.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and stakeholders, including dealing with multiple stakeholder groups.
- Detail-oriented, flexible and able to handle multiple concurrent tasks.
- Knowledge of relevant risk and needs assessment frameworks..
- High ethical standard, honesty, exceptional time management, respectability and professionalism.
