The Opportunity

A venture-backed AI software scale-up operating at the intersection of computer vision, real-time data, and enterprise intelligence seeks an influential CTO to lead its engineering function through the next stage of growth.

The platform transforms live video, drone, and sensor feeds into actionable insights across energy, mining, utilities, transport and public safety. With distributed teams across multiple markets and strong commercial traction, this hire will shape the business over the next two to three years.

This is genuine deep-tech. Not an AI wrapper. Real-world impact, enterprise adoption, and a platform with serious technical depth.

The technology foundations are strong. The challenge now is to introduce structure and consistency, raise engineering standards, and build for global scale.

You'll work directly with a technical founding CEO, taking progressive ownership of engineering and platform direction.

The core questions this role exists to answer:

• Where should the platform go architecturally over the next three years?
• Where is AI creating genuine customer value, and where is it noise?
• What engineering decisions will support global scale without accumulating debt?
• What should we build, buy, or partner on?

Day to day, you'll be:

• Setting technology direction across platform, architecture and AI capability
• Challenging architecture, interrogating trade-offs, raising engineering standards
• Helping the business make clear decisions on AI, model deployment and intelligent workflows
• Representing the business with customers, partners and investors
• Translating technical complexity into clear commercial outcomes for the board

What you'll bring

• Technical leadership in a high-growth AI, deep-tech or technically complex SaaS environment
• Genuine depth in applied AI, computer vision, ML platforms or distributed systems
• Working knowledge of AI infrastructure, MLOps, model deployment, LLMs, VLMs or agentic workflows
• The ability to stay close to technical detail without getting buried in it
• Commercial confidence: you connect technology decisions to revenue, margin and scale
• Executive presence with customers, investors and boards
• Low ego, high conviction, calm under ambiguity
• Computer vision, robotics, industrial AI or real-time systems experience is highly valued
• Technical founder or early-stage scale-up background is also relevant
