Harvesting Forester

OneFortyOne is a trans-Tasman business that owns and manages softwood plantation forests and operates sawmills in Australia and New Zealand. We manage over 140,000 ha of plantation and conservation areas and operate two sawmills in the Green Triangle region of Australia and Nelson/Marlborough region of New Zealand.
We are seeking an experienced proactive and people oriented Harvesting Forester to join our Green Triangle Forests team, reporting to the Harvesting Manager.
The Role
The Harvesting forester is responsible for the control, supervision, and co-ordination of harvesting activities to meet customer requirements and business outcomes. You will also:
- coordinate and monitor operations against harvest plans, focusing on quality, safety and contractor management
- coordinate the end-to-end identification, harvesting, and delivery of pole-grade timber, ensuring compliance with strict quality specifications, safe operational practices, and efficient logistics to meet customer supply commitments.
- liaise with internal and external stakeholders to manage expectations, contractor performance and implement effective quality control
- be a health and safety champion, communicating, supporting, coordinating, and coaching contractors in risk management and all safety aspects
- review and analyse data to maximise fibre recovery and support continuous improvement
You
- have relevant industry experience, or hold an applicable tertiary qualification
- have knowledge of commercial forestry practices including harvesting, contract management and safety standards
- have specialised training in pole selection, quality assessment, and the safe handling and transport of large-dimension logs using specialised equipment and harvesting techniques.
- have a proven history of being able to work collaboratively to build strong relationships and communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- have high level of confidence using technology to draw solutions from data
- hold a current driver’s licence
You must also be willing and able to participate in fire readiness and response activities, including undertaking regular health assessments as required.
