As the Senior Risk and Assurance Advisor, you will join the National Risk and Assurance team, who are responsible for overseeing risk management, assurance and audit activities for the SA Workers Compensation business unit, assurance, ensuring the organisation, our employees and our clients remain compliant with contractual requirements and claim management proceses.

This role is integral in achieving GB’s strategic objectives whist remaining aligned with obligations set by our clients, and is a unique opportunity to further your experience in risk, audit and assurance, as well as collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Proactively collaborate with the business to reduce its risk profile and improve processes and controls;
  • Foster open, transparent and trusting relationships with, and deliver well-communicated and consistent products, to our internal and external clients (ReturnToWorkSA, EY, PwC, KPMG, Scyne);
  • Provide independent and transparent advice to internal and external stakeholders on audit and assurance activities;
  • Partner with senior management in providing results of an agreed suite of testing against contractual, legal, and statutory requirements, and identify opportunities for process improvement;
  • Provide recommendations on business improvement opportunities;
  • Undertake mandated audits in accordance with the audit calendar;
  • Deliver technical advice on audit requirements, and develop criteria for new internal audits;
  • Advise on controls and identify gaps and deficiencies in the design of Agent controls, identifying opportunities for improvement to strength the controls framework;
  • Engage and influence with the business to formulate Management Action Plans, and emerging risk management notifications;
  • As a senior member of the team, provide coaching and mentoring to staff, and undertake leadership tasks during periods of absence;
  • Liaise with the client (RTWSA) Contracts and Assurance teams to ensure they are kept updated on the progress of all audit activities and follow-up queries.
  • Escalate any emerging risk and breaches to the Risk & Assurance Manager as required.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in the SA Workers Compensation Scheme and related legislation, with direct experience to risk, audit and assurance being desirable;
  • Understanding of the Return to Work Act 2014
  • Creative and critical thinking/problem solving skills;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively;
  • Ability to build relationships and influence operational processes to drive the successful implementation of audit recommendations;
  • Strong decision-making skills, with natural coaching ability;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders;
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills;
  • Effective research and analytical skills

  • Coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level professionals.

About You

Required

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or equivalent experience.
