About The Opportunity
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local in Frankston is welcoming and inclusive support service for people aged 26 years and over who are experiencing mental health challenges, including people with co-occurring alcohol and drug addiction treatment and care needs. This service is delivered in partnership between Wellways, Mentis Assist and Peninsula Health to provide innovative mental health and wellbeing supports to ensure everyone can access treatment and care closer to home.
As our new Peer Service Navigator - AOD, your focus will be to support, advocate for and represent people impacted by alcohol and/or substance use or dependence, are experiencing mental health challenges and/or psychosocial distress. This role will see you walking alongside our program participants at every step of their time in the program; from the initial conversation, to delivering one-to-one service navigation, recovery and wellness planning, education and capacity building and, where required, support them in connecting with AOD support groups and services.
This is one where you will play a truly vital role in ensuring participants, carers and their families receive valuable and supportive care.
You will need
- Personal experience of mental distress and accessing and navigating healthcare services, including mental health services and a willingness to draw upon your experiences and recovery journey to inform your work
- Certificate IV/Diploma in Mental Health or Peer Work, AOD or tertiary qualification in social science or 1+ year relevant work experience in mental health sector or intentional Peer Support Training
You will also need
- Current valid Driver’s License and the ability to undertake travel for the role
- Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening Check
- Right to Work within Australia
- Satisfactory National Police Records Check (valid within the last 12 months)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
