About The Role

In this influential leadership position, you will deliver high-quality, customer-focused technology services to the Townsville community while driving innovation, resilience, and value across Council’s IT landscape. Reporting to the Chief Digital and Information Officer, you will work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team and stakeholders to translate Council’s strategic vision into technology outcomes that support a connected, innovative and future-focused city.

As Team Manager Infrastructure, Security & Operations, you will lead diverse teams of IT professionals responsible for infrastructure, architecture, cyber security, and service operations across a hybrid (cloud and on-premise) environment. You will provide strategic and technical leadership to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient service delivery while embedding continuous improvement, innovation, and strong governance practices aligned to Council’s Corporate Plan.

You will play a key role in shaping IT service delivery through ITIL-aligned service design, transition and operations, driving business continuity planning, and ensuring critical systems remain resilient during disruptions or emergency events.

With extensive experience across a broad range of IT disciplines, you bring strong technical expertise in infrastructure, architecture, service delivery and cyber security, alongside the ability to lead high-performing teams in complex environments. You are comfortable balancing strategic thinking with operational delivery, ensuring systems are secure, scalable and aligned to organisational needs.

You are financially astute, with demonstrated experience managing budgets and resources to deliver sustainable outcomes. Your strong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills enable you to work effectively across all levels of the organisation and with external partners to deliver innovative technology solutions.

You have a proven track record in leading complex projects and driving continuous improvement, supported by sound knowledge of IT frameworks such as ITIL, TOGAF or PRINCE2. With relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology (postgraduate qualifications desirable), you bring significant experience in large, complex organisations, with cyber security leadership experience highly regarded.
