Terminal Logistics Coordinator

Western Sydney International Airport

Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport is at the heart of the incredible transformation across Western Sydney. WSI will be a 24/7 hub for international, domestic and cargo services, creating fantastic career opportunities in Sydney's cultural heartland.

We've reached a major milestone with completion of the terminal and runway, and we're now working towards opening our world-class airport later this year. Designed for efficiency and sustainability with state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology, there'll be opportunities for generations to come in Sydney's fastest growing area. We're now looking for passionate people who want to be part of something special - building a legacy for Western Sydney.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Terminal Services Lead, this is a critical role supporting the safe and efficient movement of goods, equipment, deliveries, and mishandled luggage across the WSI precinct. The role also coordinates loading dock operations, contractor and delivery activity, priority cargo flows, oversees the performance of WSI service providers and acts as an interface between the cargo precinct, airlines, ground handlers, and the terminal.

Operating in a fully digital airport ecosystem, you'll use real-time data, logistics platforms, and integrated operations systems to maintain flow, reduce congestion, and support on-time performance.

The role will initially be performed within regular business hours to support the development of processes and procedures. It will then transition to a permanent shift-based position aligned with the commencement of live operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Redirect and deploy operational resources from WSI service providers (including labour hire, cleaning, trolley management, security and other contracted teams) as directed to ensure adequate coverage across customer-facing terminal functions.
  • Monitor and adjust resource allocation to maintain safe and efficient operations across landside logistics, loading dock activities, and terminal interfaces.
  • Provide operational oversight of service provider teams during peak periods, disruptions, and irregular operations to support on-time performance and service delivery standards.
  • Collaborate with a range of teams to align resource deployment with passenger flow and operational requirements.
  • Manage terminal loading dock operations, including delivery schedules, waste removal, retail replenishment, airline support services and contractor access.
  • Coordinate vehicle movements through controlled landside zones to ensure safe and efficient access to terminal forecourt areas, service roads, and loading dock bays.
  • Conduct routine inspections of loading dock areas to ensure safety, housekeeping, equipment functionality, and compliance.
  • Oversee the performance of mishandled baggage service providers to ensure processing aligns with airline service level agreements and passenger expectations.
  • Coordinate the movement, tracking, and secure handling of delayed, misrouted, or mishandled baggage across terminal, storage, and cargo areas.
  • Support the setup and management of temporary storage or surge areas during disruptions, ensuring compliance with aviation security and baggage handling protocols.
  • Communicate with airlines and ground handlers regarding baggage delays and operational impacts, including reconciliation of associated courier and repatriation costs
  • Escalate issues where dock congestion, cargo delays, or baggage disruptions may impact operational performance, and support irregular operations through contingency measures.
  • Assist with emergency response activities in logistics areas, including incidents, alarms, spills, access breaches, and baggage-related events.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with aviation security, Chain of Responsibility, biosecurity, customs, and dangerous goods requirements.
  • Verify permits, inductions, and authorised access for contractors, service providers, and delivery personnel.
  • Engage with stakeholders including airlines, ground handlers, retailers, and service providers to coordinate logistics activities and support operational planning.
  • Utilise WSI systems for dock booking, logistics monitoring, incident reporting, and contractor management, maintaining accurate operational records.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through reporting, analysis, and enhancement of logistics and baggage handling processes.
