Role Overview
Reporting to the Group Executive Business Development, the Group Property Manager is responsible for managing the Flinders Port Holdings property portfolio, including complex multi-party land and property dealings, commercial lease negotiations, management of the compliance amongst users of port land, liaising with Government agencies, and managing the obligations of Flinders Ports Holdings as both Landlord and Tenant.
The Group Property Manager is accountable for contributing to the Master Plan, strategic planning across the Land and Property Portfolio, including optimisation and activation of land and property, acquisition/disposal, identifying property initiatives, whilst ensuring that all property matters are negotiated, maintained and effectively managed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, implement and manage change management across the Flinders Port Holdings Group to re-shape the operations and functions of the property portfolio;
- Develop framework and processes, identifying and implementing strategic objectives for best practice land and property management, along with providing the foundation for robust decision making around land and property matters;
- Partner with Commercial and Business Development to contribute to strategic and operational planning to identify the best use, activation and land allocation to preserve Flinders Port Holdings land and property interests;
- Provide high level, considered specialist and technical land and property advice and solutions on complex land and property matters;
- Interpret, advise on and practically apply complex legal context and legislative obligations;
- Instruct and engage with internal and external legal counsel, valuers and consultants required to professionally advise and support the operation of the property function;
- Manage day to day operational aspects of the property portfolio, including negotiation and management of land and property agreements, surrender of leases, land allocation, compliance obligations and partner with Finance to ensure income recoveries; and
- Establish and maintain a professional network of business relationships consisting of key government agencies, tenant and licences.
About You
Your skills and experience will include -
- Valid driver’s licence;
- Tertiary qualification in Property Management or related discipline and / or equivalent skills gained through experience;
- Previous experience in complex (government or non government) land and property portfolio management;
- Commercial acumen and strategic negotiation skills;
- Knowledge of best practice property management principles and practices including legislative requirements and the ability to interpret legal and legislative obligations;
- Customer and stakeholder management skills, with commitment to service excellence; and
- Strong financial management skills including budget preparation.
