We represent Australia's largest diversified energy network business who are on a growth journey. Due to a HSE restructure, we're proud to be recruiting this newly created senior leadership opportunity, available in Melbourne.
The Role
Managing a team of HSE Advisors, the HSE Manager has overall responsibility to lead safety across a significant high-risk business unit, with the exciting challenge and opportunity to transform the safety culture.
Key Focus Areas & Accountabilities
- Strategic HSE Leadership: Move the dial from tactical to strategic, building quick credibility with operations by visibly addressing "low hanging fruit".
- Stakeholder Management: Partner with and support the business unit's General Manager and senior leadership team (you'll sit at this table).
- Team Development: Lead and coach a team of HSE Advisors to ensure they are a high-performing, proactive team, strengthening safety leadership capability across the business line.
- Critical Risk Management: Partner with operational leaders to execute the critical risk program, including assurance planning and verification of controls.
- Delivery Partner Engagement: Implement best practices in the 5 stages of contractor management, aligning safety frameworks, procedures, and assurance activities with delivery partners.
- Governance & Insights: Translate data and assurance findings into concise, actionable insights for leadership and governance forums.
Experience & Qualifications
To be successfully shortlisted for the position, we are seeking:
- Proven leadership managing HSE teams in complex operational environments.
- Strong HSE technical knowledge gained within the power industry.
- Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating critical safety risks.
- Advanced incident investigation skills, including root cause analysis.
- Skills in contractor safety obligations, including principal contractor relationships.
- Minimum Certificate IV in WHS; however a Diploma or Masters in WHS is preferred.
- Required: Current Driver’s license.
This role will require regular travel to sites across Victoria.
