Extensive experience leading infrastructure advisory and project management engagements is required along with a strong industry network in Australia. Experience across project delivery, business case, transaction/procurement management, commercial management is ideal.

They partner with governments, industry and communities to shape strategy and deliver major projects, programs and portfolios across Australia and New Zealand.

The Opportunity

Our client is growing its presence in Australia and this role is central to that. As Director, you will lead and deliver advisory engagements for clients across government and industry, take ownership of business development and play an active role in shaping how the company shows up in the Australian market.

You will work closely with the Managing Director and trans-Tasman leadership team, a group with sector expertise and an established track record, giving you the backing of a proven platform while having genuine autonomy to build something of your own.

The pathway from this role is clear: as you deliver, win work, and grow the team around you, you become a market leader for the company. For the right person, there is also a direct line to profit share and ultimately an ownership stake in the business. Key Responsibilities

Delivery & Advisory

  • Lead and deliver high-quality advisory engagements across infrastructure strategy, business cases, and project and program management
  • Manage project teams, stakeholders and specialist consultants to achieve integrated, high-impact outcomes
  • Maintain standards of quality rigour and client care across every engagement

Business Development & Market Building

  • Contribute to Sydney and broader Australian business development activity: build pipeline, lead proposals, and convert opportunities into work
  • Develop trusted, long-term relationships with clients across the private sector and government in Australia
  • Represent our client in the market through industry engagement, thought leadership and professional networks
  • Identify opportunities to expand Sydney services and client base, including into new sectors

Team Growth

  • Actively contribute to growing the Australian team as the business scales
  • Support and mentor consultants as they join the business
  • Help shape the culture in line with the firm's values

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Managing Director and broader trans-Tasman leadership to share knowledge, align on strategy and pursue national opportunities
  • Partner with our New Zealand team on trans-Tasman pursuits and cross-market opportunities, drawing on our combined platform across Australia and New Zealand
  • Contribute to the firms broader development, including firm-wide initiatives, and delivery standards

Skills, Experience and Attributes

The successful candidate will bring:

  • 10-20 years of experience in advisory, consulting, government or private sector roles – ideally within infrastructure, transport, water, energy or a related sector
  • A strong track record of independently leading and delivering complex advisory engagements, including infrastructure strategy, business cases, and project or program management
  • Demonstrated ability to win work and manage client relationships at a senior level, with an established pipeline of their own
  • Strong professional networks across industry and/or government in Australia, particularly in Sydney and NSW
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating consultants or technical specialists
  • Someone who complements the existing team. We are not looking for a replica of ourselves, but someone who brings a different angle, network or sector perspective that makes us stronger
  • Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen and a collaborative, people-first approach
  • Alignment with the firms values and an entrepreneurial mindset suited to a growth-stage business

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, Project Management or a related field
  • Postgraduate qualifications are desirable

Remuneration

Salary commensurate with experience, reviews annually, along with the following:

  • Individual incentive scheme: eligibility to earn a personal incentive based on net revenue personally generated above a defined threshold. The threshold covers base salary, allocated overheads and a base business margin.
  • Four weeks annual leave per year, with an option to buy two additional weeks leave.
  • Professional development, industry conference and training budget (AUD $5,000 per year, provisional)
  • Access to trans-Tasman team, knowledge base and professional network

Our client is building for the long term and so is this role. The roadmap ahead includes:

  1. Phase 1 (Individual incentive): Deliver great work, build the pipeline, and grow presence in Australia.
  2. Phase 2 (Team profit share): As you meet your performance indicators and the team around you grows, transition to a profit share model – rewarding you when the whole business succeeds, not just your own billings.
  3. Phase 3 (shareholding): For the right person, the opportunity to take an ownership stake in the business.
