We are searching for an experienced Coordinator to join the Australia Awards - South Asia & Mongolia Program at our Adelaide (preferred), Brisbane, or Sydney office. It is a Fixed Term Contract until

30 June 2027 with possibility of extension.

About The Program

Australia Awards are provided to build the skills and knowledge of individuals so that they can contribute to their country’s development, and to support the ongoing development of links between Australia and the countries to which it provides development assistance. The Australia Awards are an important part of the Australian Government’s focus on public and economic diplomacy, and provide long-term Scholarships, Fellowships and Short Courses, supported by a range of other capacity-building and training modalities.

Australia Awards – South Asia & Mongolia (AASAM) is administered by Palladium on behalf of the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The Program goal is to support eight partner countries – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka – in achieving their development goals through education and knowledge transfer, and to build enduring relationships with Australia that advance mutual interests.

AASAM is a multi-country program with service delivery offices in Colombo, Dhaka, Islamabad, Kathmandu, Thimphu and Ulaanbaatar. Leadership, coordination, and support are provided by “the Hub” – a regional team based in Colombo and Australia.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

The Coordinator – Scholar Enrichment Program is expected to build positive relationships with Australian university contacts in order to develop and implement strategies that complement University-based activities and assist scholars with developing professional linkages.

The position also contributes broadly to Program Outreach and Engagement functions, including through providing communications and event coordination support in Australia.

Essential

These are the Minimum Requirements/Key Selection Criteria:

  • Professional experience of the Australian tertiary sector, particularly of working with international scholars and students.
  • Demonstrated high-level skills in effective client and stakeholder relationship management
  • Excellent communication skills and experience of working effectively across cultures
  • Ability to write effectively and accurately in English, including for print and digital media
  • Demonstrated experience of coordinating large-scale events
  • A high standard of computer literacy, including the use of Microsoft office, and experience in data entry and data management
  • An understanding of and commitment to the principles of gender, disability, and social inclusion.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload, balance competing demand, and deliver outcomes to specified quality level with agrees time frames.
  • Excellent administration and organisational skills, with a high level of attention to detail.

Desired

  • Experience studying in Australia at postgraduate level.
  • Familiarity with graphic design, photography and/or digital communication.
  • Experience using WordPress, Campaign Monitor and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with the culture and people of one or more of the countries of South Asia and Mongolia.
