Senior consultant – communication and engagement

At Communication Link, we partner with organisations across a range of sectors to design and deliver communication and engagement that supports meaningful outcomes.

We are a boutique consultancy working across a diverse range of projects, including stakeholder and community engagement, organisational change, strategic communication, consultation, facilitation and training.

We are seeking a senior consultant to join our team in a client-embedded role within a complex public sector program of work. The role has a strong focus on communication delivery, while also taking ownership of communication and engagement workstreams, contributing to project planning, and supporting broader strategic and operational outcomes.

Communication Link places a priority on work-life integration and welcomes part-time and flexible work arrangements. For this role our preference is for fulltime, however we will consider all applications.

Role focus

· Enjoys delivering high-quality communication and engagement outcomes while taking ownership of defined workstreams

· Has experience in stakeholder and community engagement and understands how communication and engagement support project outcomes

· Can work across day-to-day delivery, planning and broader strategic implementation with senior support where required

· Is able to deliver high-quality outputs in a self-directed manner and coordinate across multiple stakeholders

· Is confident leading simpler project streams, identifying risks or challenges, and applying IAP2 principles in practice.

Key responsibilities

· Deliver high-quality communication materials across digital, stakeholder and project channels

· Lead and coordinate defined communication and engagement workstreams, including planning, scheduling and tracking deliverables

· Work with stakeholders to design and deliver integrated communication and engagement approaches, including workshops, briefings, pop-ups and consultation processes

· Translate complex information into clear, accessible messaging for a range of audiences

· Coordinate approvals, stakeholder input, timelines and workflow dependencies to manage deliverables end-to-end

· Manage competing priorities and provide practical advice on communication and engagement approaches, escalating risks where senior input is required

· Contribute to project planning, reporting, continuous improvement and broader team capability development

· Support and guide other team members involved in delivery, including reviewing work where appropriate.

Required skills and experience

· 5+ years’ experience in communication and/or engagement roles

· Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality communication materials in government or complex environments

· Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences

· Experience planning or delivering engagement activities, aligned with IAP2 principles or frameworks

· Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively within client teams

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight timeframes

· Experience working across digital, stakeholder and project communication channels

· High level of organisation and attention to detail

· Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience

· IAP2 (or Engagement Institute) certification or working towards certification (highly desirable)

· Security clearance, or ability to obtain one (desirable)

· Develop communication materials across digital, stakeholder and internal channels

· Coordinate messaging and deliverables across projects and stakeholder groups

· Plan and support engagement activities, including workshops, pop-ups and briefings

· Contribute to engagement design, facilitation and reporting

· Manage communication and engagement activities end-to-end

· Purely strategic advisory work removed from delivery

· Data entry
