Overview
In this role you will drive content strategy and planning across paid/owned/earned content for an assigned portfolio of clients. Convert insight into integrated content programs that deliver brand and business outcomes (revenue, impressions, traffic and engagement). Co‑own shared frameworks and quality standards with fellow Content & Social ADs; coach a junior layer (Content Managers, Execs, Coords) across content creation, curation, and influencers.
Headline responsibilities
- Translate insight into clear content strategy (role/rationale) and planning pillars across social and digital touchpoints for your portfolio.
- Define channel approaches (across social, digital, activations, etc.) and the messaging matrix; ensure consistent application across assets.
- Ensure content and social strategies achieve planned objectives, including revenue growth, impressions, quality traffic and/or engagement.
- Lead content ideation process within your portfolio, briefing, collaborating and ideating with the Creative Director and Creative team; brief designers/studio and steward quality across all digital channels.
- Own the content calendar (cadence, formats, sequencing) for your portfolio; ensure approvals and trafficking are on time.
- Set community management strategy (tone, SLAs, escalation) and oversee execution with Content Managers.
- Lead influencer campaigns (strategy, selection, briefing, approvals) with junior support
- Collaborate with Media & Activations to align content with their paid plan (audiences, flighting, placements) and on integrated reporting; (no in‑platform buying).
- Collaborate with Creative to ensure content outputs are always on brand and aligned to wider campaigns
- Contribute to shared frameworks, craft standards, and training for the Social & Content Manager cohort.
Key tasks
Strategy & Planning
- Decode research, social listening, and performance data into opportunities and tests
- Build content strategy (role/rationale) and planning pillars by objective, audience, and touchpoint; map how content supports the media plan (e.g., pre‑launch organic, paid campaign creative refreshes, retargeting assets, landing‑page content).
- Maintain a portfolio‑level messaging matrix and asset guidelines aligned to campaigns and always‑on.
- Produce quarterly content roadmaps and channel‑specific calendars; align with Media on audience, flighting, and placement requirements.
Content & Creative
- Generate and evaluate ideas against objectives and platform best practice; co‑ideate with the Creative Director to evolve ideas into campaignable concepts.
- Write/shape briefs; ensure specs and storytelling are optimized per platform/format; collaborate with art directors/designers on execution.
- Govern calendar hygiene, asset QA, and timely client reviews/approvals; route creative through Creative Director for key concept/visual identity sign‑offs.
Community & Influencers
- Define moderation approach, SLAs, escalation maps, and risk protocols.
- Plan and run influencer programs end‑to‑end (selection frameworks, briefing, contracting coordination, approvals, performance review).
Collaboration & Governance
- Work in lock‑step with Media on audiences, flighting, and amplification
- Collaborate with the Creative Director through a regular cadence (e.g., weekly ideation, WIP reviews, pre‑presentation run‑throughs) to ensure alignment on concept, craft, and channel expression.
- Collaborate with Content & Social Director to align on frameworks, templates, and process improvements.
- Coach Content Managers/Execs; provide clear priorities, feedback, and craft development.
Budget & Reporting (with Media)
- Provide inputs to content production budgets and identify amplification opportunities for Media to evaluate.
- Media owns paid budget allocation and pacing; Content Lead ensures the content plan meets media requirements and timing.
- Produce integrated reporting that connects paid and owned/earned results to objectives; extract insights and feed test‑and‑learn into future calendars.
- Ensure scope adherence, accurate time tracking, and documentation.
Skills & experience
- 5+ years in social/content roles
Technical
- Deep platform knowledge (campaign types, key success metrics, formats, creative best practice, specs, algorithms) across major social and adjacent digital channels.
- Experience in Social & Digital media buying is beneficial. This role doesn't require media buying in-platform, but an understanding of key metrics and planning principles are highly regarded.
- Proficient with planning and workflow tools (e.g., content schedulers, social listening, analytics dashboards); comfortable interpreting performance data to guide decisions.
- Understanding of the role of organic and earned content across channels. Ability to create and optimise an eco-system of content (across website, social, earned, influencer) to achieve brand objectives
- Excellent brief writing, messaging architecture, and editorial planning.
General
- Strategic thinker with sharp creative judgement and exceptional communication/presentation skills.
- Strong stakeholder management; proactive, solutions-oriented, calm under pressure.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and elevate team output; meticulous with documentation and process.
- Experience working on one or more of automotive, beauty, sport/nutrition, and finance clients/campaigns is highly regarded
